Charlie's First Haircut

Charlie has amazing thick hair which is the complete opposite of Emme.  Charlie got my genes in the hair department and Emme got Justin's.  We decided it was time for Charlie to get his first hair cut a couple weeks after his 1st birthday.  The pictures got lost in our computer somehow, so this post is a little out of place.  As you can see, he really needed a trim.

Before

Charlie was quiet and calm at first, but started to cry and tried to get out of the chair once his hair was cut around his ears.  We had to hold the poor guy down, and the hair dresser couldn't quite finish blending in the sides.  I had to blend his hair in the bathtub later.
During

I think he did well for his first time.  He looks so handsome too!  He's still not a big fan of getting his haircut, which is too bad.  His hair grows so fast he has to have it cut every month.  Lucky for Charlie I always bribe him with candy :)

Arches National Park

We stayed in Moab for a night on the way home from Albuquerque, then spent a good part of the next day in Arches National Park.  Arches is one of the places I have always wanted to see in Utah.  I was not disappointed!

Balanced Rock

 Charlie enjoying a ride!

Here we are all ready to hike to Delicate Arch.  The hike was not as difficult as it looked, or as I expected.  The scenery was beautiful!

We made it!!!  Emme and Charlie so good, but glad to get out of their carriers and eat lunch.

 Delicate Arch

I was a little nervous climbing down to the arch, especially with the kids.  There is a hole to the right and a big drop off right behind the arch.  I'm glad we went down, it was so neat to be right under the arch!

We look so small!

Emme and Charlie were exhausted on the way.  Tired little guy.

She was out!

We drove around the park a little more after Delicate Arch.  We stopped to see Sand Dune Arch.  There was a bunch of sand to play in which Emme loved.  It was a nice end to our day.  There was so much to do and see.  We will have to visit again soon!

Hotel Life

I just wanted to remember these pictures from our "ho-tail" (as Emme calls it) in Moab.

Justin took Emme swimming.  Funny Emme!

Emme loves her Daddy and wants to be like him someday.  She is well on her way!

Albuquerque

First...

HAPPY 200TH POST!!!
(it only took 5 years)

We got to spend just short of a week in Albuquerque with my dad and Jacque back in March.  It was so nice to escape the colder Utah weather.  We celebrated Charlie's birthday the first night we were there.

St. Patrick's Day is like Christmas for my dad, so he got Charlie a shamrock cake since his birthday is on the 13th.  We had fun singing to him.  He loved the cake and ice cream.

My dad made a bunch of onesies for Emme when she was born.  This one says, "I love you Grandpa." Naturally we had to get a picture.

The biggest part of the trip was St. Patrick's Day.  Yes, my dad owns 3 kilts and plays the bagpipes.  His band plays at a restaurant called Kelly's a few times throughout the day.  It was a lot of fun to watch.  Emme and Charlie really loved the music.  My dad is the third from the front.

Here we are after they played.

Here is another shirt my dad made for Emme.  It says, "I'm going to play bagpipes like my Grandpa."

It was a little cold our last full day in Albuquerque, so we took Emme and Charlie to the aquarium.  They loved watching all the fish.  It was especially fun to watch them in front of the big tank in the picture that had sharks and really big fish.

My dad had 4 cats.  Emme LOVED them.  She chased them around the whole time we were there.  She even remembered all their names several months after we visited.  We noticed that one of the cats scratched her face.  We asked her what happened, but she would not tell us.  It took her about 4 or 5 days to admit that the cat scratched her, because she loved them so much and didn't want to get them in trouble.

We had a great time and can't wait to visit again!
