Emme turned 17 months last week. 3 MORE SUNDAY'S UNTIL NURSERY!!! Not that I'm counting :)
Emme is such a character. She is so funny and keeps me laughing all day long. She has the BEST sense of humor. She loves playing with her baby doll. She is going to be a great big sister. She also loves playing with bowls, spoons, cups, etc. One of her favorite things right now is our juice pitcher. She puts her toys inside and carries it around the house. This is her baby's bowl. She likes to put small toys in it and stir it like it's food.
Emme is such a smart girl. She picks up on words and concepts so quickly. She usually learns 2 new words a day. I have been writing them down and she now roughly knows 60+ words. She also uses a few signs and knows a bunch of animal noises. One of her first words was actually a sentence... "What is that?" She says a lot of her words correctly, but it's also fun to hear Emme's version of some. Here are some of my favorites...
-Choo Choo (for trains and car horns)
-Duck (Guck)
-Apple
-Zipper
-Woof (oof oof)
-Church
-Sticker (Sticko)
-Cheese
-Oops! (oop!)
-Rock (Rocko)
-Coat
-Eye
-Stuck
-Caught {It's the name of one of her books}
-Elbow {She asks me what my elbow is most times I change her diaper}
-Two
-Amen (Ahh-men)
-Elmo
-Grandpa
-Cookie
-Jesus {her translation changes every time she says it}
-Toe
-Look at that!
-Hello (ello)
This is the face she makes when we say "cheese!"
The thing that amazes me the most is that she not only knows how to say all these words (plus many more), but she knows what they all mean. She also has a few words that she uses over and over again every day that really help her communicate. She uses...
-Mama/ Dada
-No
-Choo Choo {for car horns}
-Beep Beep (Bop Bop) {for the microwave when we heat her milk}
-Cup {when she's thirsty}
-Up {when she wants to go up or down}
-Hot {for anything hot or cold}
-Vroom vroom (voom voom) {for cars}
-Banana (nana)
-Uh Oh
-Shoe (sue)
-Sit {when she is going to sit down}
One really big thing she started saying was "poop." We bought her a toilet a couple weeks ago, because she started telling me when she was going to go #2. I figured out today that she also knows when she needs to go #1. She says "poop" for that as well. She sat on the toilet for 10 or 15 minutes without a problem. She got up and 5 seconds later she peed on the bathroom floor. Little stinker! I didn't expect to potty train so soon, but I hope she will be done by the time the baby comes.
Emme has been so funny lately. She discovered that the couch cushions move and now hides "little" treasures under them. Here she was trying to hide a canister of hot chocolate. She also tried to stuff this grocery bag under our kitchen rug.
Another funny thing. Emme is so quick. I saw her walking around with our DVD remote one day, and the next minute it was missing. I looked in all the usual and a lot of unusual places, but I couldn't find it. I even triple checked the garbage. At least I knew it was somewhere in the house. One day I was uploading pictures to an email. I saw Emme playing with a box and some bubble wrap. No big deal. She plays with that box all the time. I looked at Emme a couple minutes later and there she was... holding the remote! It was in the small black box she played with the whole month or so it was missing!
I'm sorry this was so long, but I also wanted to write some of this for my records. It is so much fun to watch Emme learn and grow so much. She amazes me every day with the things she knows and learns. I can't wait for more! We love you Emmeline!!!
