Catching Up

We are the worst bloggers ever! It's about time we update everyone. These past 2 months have been very busy for us. Justin has been working really hard for Uncle Duff. He deserves a big bonus and a promotion! We also started managing an apartment complex which did not make the last month of my semester in school very easy at all! That's what's been keeping us busy on a daily basis, but there have been some fun and exciting events in our lives. Justin's dad got married to a wonderful woman named Meg on December 8th. We flew out to Utah to be at the ceremony and the receptions. It was really good to see all our friends and family, and to get to know Meg's children and family as well.The next exciting thing for us was our 2nd anniversary on December 17th. I can't believe it's already been 2 years since we got married. This last year has especially gone by fast. I also can't believe we've been in California for a year now! We didn't do anything extravagant for our anniversary. I made us a nice breakfast in the morning before Justin had to go to work. Justin got home a little earlier than usual, which was nice, because we were going out to dinner. He brought me home 2 roses for the 2 years we have been married, and a box of clementine oranges because he knows I love them. How sweet! We went to a fondue restaurant for dinner. It's called La Fondue, and it's in Saratoga. It had the coolest atmosphere. Neither of us had been to a fondue restaurant before, so it was a fun experience. We had a 4 course meal that included a salad, a cheese fondue appetizer, a main dish of meat, and chocolate fondue for dessert. We had 7 different kinds of meat for dinner. They brought the meat out raw for you to cook on a little grill in the middle of the table. We had chicken, sirloin, buffalo, tiger shrimp, alligator, wild boar, and kobe filet mignon. They even put a little candle on our dessert tray because it was our anniversary. It was a really good and really fun dinner. We so full afterwards! The best part of the night is that Justin's company offered to pay for our dinner! Yeah for Uncle Duff!These are all the pictures I have downloaded on our computer right now. It's Finished!!!!!

Well, as you can tell from this picture, Katie finally finished her dress and wore it out in public, and didn't get too many death threats over it. :) Now she can move on to bigger and better projects, such as learning how to make me scrambled eggs and toast.

Katie's big day is tomorrow as she will start her second semester of school at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Just between you and I, I think she is telling me a big fib because every time she goes up there she tells me that it is cold. I guess it must be a girl thing. I am going to have to go up there one day for myself so I can show here that it is not cold at all. But this is the person who sleeps with a big blanket on during the summer when it is 80 degrees in the house, so what can I expect? For those of you who don't know, Katie is trying to get all of the prerequisites done so that she can hopefully get into a nursing program in a year or so. We will see how studious she is!!!!

One day I came home from work, and Katie had surprised me by making this luscious chocolate, pecan cake. Doesn't it look good? She wants me to make sure that all of you know that she made the cake from scratch, not from a box!!!! We started a little thing of planning a date night each weekend. This past weekend we went to the old Stanford Theater. This is an old style theater that dates back to 1925. In the 1990's, it was restored and now they show old films there on the weekend. Before and after the films, they have a big Wurlitzer organ that comes up out of the floor, and an organist plays music on it. Very fun!!! We saw the Man from Laramie, and Man of the West. I have a feeling that we may be spending a lot more time there in the future, because Katie is a nut for old things

Katie and I are both new at this, but some good friends (Locke and Katie) told us this was easy enough to do. Needless to say, this may be easier than sending out an email each week. We will make every effort to keep this updated at least.

Its hard to believe that we have been here for 9 months already. Where does all of the time go? This past month has been a lot of fun. Katie still likes the Milwaukee Brewers (I don't know why), and so we went to the game when they came to town to play the Giants. We went up with our neighbors, and it was quite fun. As we were leaving the game, there was a guy holding a pretty funny sign. The funny thing is we had seen this guy before when we went up to a game. Thats too bad about his wife. I hope she gets freed soon. :)

These past few weeks Katie has started to become our very own Martha Stewart. Being the miser that I am (according to Google, a miser is a sting hoarder of money and possessions (often living miserably)), she decided to make herself a dress. She is still finishing it up, but it looks great. She tells me that she is practicing so that if one day the Nazis invade and we have to flee to the other side of the mountain, that she can make our children clothes. You can tell that she has been watching too much The Sound of Music
