Help Alleviate Poverty in Africa

I want to tell you about an exciting new company that Justin has started to alleviate poverty in rural Africa (initially Ghana). Tilapiana (www.tilapiana.com) is a social enterprise started by recent graduates of the BYU MBA program. Tilapiana works with rural entrepreneurs in Africa and provides them with all of the training, resources, and skills necessary to successfully and profitably run manage their own fish farms. Not only are these entrepreneurs able to address the significant fish shortage that exists, but they are also simultaneously able to pull themselves and their families out of poverty.

Tilapiana was recently featured in an international fish farming publication as an up-and-coming player in the fish farming industry in Africa. Tilapiana is ready to launch their pilot in Africa buts needs your help in raising $7500 to do so.

Between Saturday August 27 and Tuesday September 6, Tilapiana will be featured on the Tipping Bucket (www.tippingbucket.org) as their featured partner. The Tipping Bucket is an online platform that uses crowd sourcing to fund innovative projects that seek to change the world. Visitors to the site have the opportunity to donate (as little as a dollar, but hopefully more) to help fund the current project. If the funding goal is reached within the allotted time, then the donations gets processed and the partner organization receives the funds and moves forward with the project. If the funding goal is not met, then none of the donations are processed and the next project gets its turn on the site. Hence the tagline of "Change the World Or Your Money Back."

I invite and encourage you to vist the Tipping Bucket website (www.tippingbucket.org) to learn more about the Tilapiana project and to make a one-time donation using the Tipping Bucket platform. 100% of your donation will be used for the pilot in Ghana. In addition, your donation is tax deductible as the Tipping Bucket is a registered 501(c)3 organization.

Regardless of whether you make a donation, please help get the word out and get others to visit the TIpping Bucket website. Update your Facebook status, sent out a tweet, call all your friends, or send out a message via carrier pigeon. Whatever the method, please help get the word out.

For those who may work for an organization that matches your donations, this may be a great opportunity to increase the amount of your impact. For those who run their own organizations or in a financial position to do so, please consider making a matching grant to the total amount of funding that is raised over the next week. For me details or to learn about corporate sponsorship opportunities, please send an email to contact@tilapiana.com

Finally, if you would like to receive periodic updates on Tilapiana's progress, please click here and join their mailing list

Once again, thank you for your support and I hope you will consider helping Tilapiana alleviate poverty in Africa.
